The Nanyang Technological University CAC Choir
The NTU CAC Choir was set up exactly 20 years ago to promote choral music in the University. Since then, the choir has reached out to audiences both locally and internationally, through our concerts as well as through touring abroad.
In the international choral scene, the choir took part in the 2nd international Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Choir Competition in Pohlheim, Germany in 1999, obtaining a Silver award. In 2004, the choir participated in the first International Choral Festival in Genting, Malaysia, achieving Silver awards in the 2 categories it took part in. Most recently, in the World Choir Games 2006 held in Xiamen, China, the choir achieved two gold diplomas and two silver medals.
Back home, the choir has performed for President S. R. Nathan, Dr. Cham Tao Soon and various local and international ministers at the International Academic Advisory Panel held at the Istana in January 2002 and 2003. The choir have also been invited to sing at the Ballet Ball of the Nutcracker Suite by the Singapore Dance Theatre in December 2001, and most recently, at the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts Annual Staff Conference. In addition, the Choir performed with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra in January 2002 and for the National Day Concert in August 2004. Within the university, the choir has performed for many occasions and events, including the NTU Convocation Dinner and the Exxon-Mobile Concert.
The choir continues to be built by students of various nationalities with a common passion for singing and choral music. The NTU CAC Choir hopes to share our music through our annual concert, Cantemus, which means "to sing" in English.
